The Berm was one of the major components of the Trail Work. To get down the slope a curving path was planned so the berm was essential. After using the Bobcat to cut the path, old tires were placed on the outside of the curve. We got them for free which of course is the best price you can get. Fill the tires completely with soil so that they can't flex. We also added rocks in the centre of them to make them even more stable.

The final touch on The Berm was to harden the surface. Mansfield is mostly sandy loam, which doesn't bind very well. The Trail Care Crew's solution was to mix kitty litter with the sand and then wet it down using a fire fighters pump pack. It hardened up nicely and most importantly it is way fun to ride.
